As Director in the Municipal Affairs Practice, Lauren Gerhardt helps clients navigate complex local government landscapes, unblock stalled projects, and capitalize on strategic opportunities. Specializing in heavily regulated sectors—including energy, waste management, transportation, and signage—she turns intricate policy environments into actionable pathways to success.
Lauren’s expertise spans risk forecasting, stakeholder mapping, advocacy strategy, and permitting approvals. Known for her rigorous due diligence, she excels at helping clients align their business objectives with ever-evolving municipal trends and government policy.
Before joining Sussex, Lauren managed strategy and operations for a private CPG distributor, bringing a sharp, private-sector perspective to public affairs.
Lauren holds an Honours BA in Criminology and Biology from the University of Toronto. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit organization that specializes in early childhood education.
Outside of work, Lauren is an avid skier and hiker and enjoys travelling with her young family.
