Federal Government Launches Budget Consultation

Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, announced the launch and opening of the annual federal pre-budget consultation period.

The consultation seeks input from Canadians, Industry Groups and Canadian businesses on how the budget can support a strong economic recovery for everyone. Of particular interest are ideas that support the government’s focus on jobs, growth and making life more affordable.

All Canadians and Canadian businesses are invited to make submissions and share their ideas at LetsTalkBudget2022.ca. The consultation will run from today until 5PM EST on Friday, February 25, 2022. Budget 2022 is expected to be tabled in late March or early April.

In addition to submitting via the portal, Sussex recommends sharing submissions with relevant Ministerial offices and Department officials. Sussex staff are on hand to assist you with framing your submission so that it best aligns with government priorities and getting it into the right hands. Please reach out to your Sussex point of contact or to any of the team members listed below for assistance.

Happy to help.

Don’t hesitate to contact our Federal team should you have any questions or require more information.
