NDP Releases Full Platform Ahead of Election Campaign

On Monday, the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP) unveiled their campaign platform, “Strong. Ready. Working For You.” making it the first party out of the gate to release its platform for the 2022 election. The platform touches on many of the issues deemed as priority by Ontarians over the last four years. An alternative viewpoint is that the platform has something for everyone.

The NDP platform includes its previously released planks:

Homes you can afford (a strategy to address home prices);
Climate. Jobs. Justice: A Green New Democratic Deal (a strategy for the province to reach Net Zero by 2050 while creating jobs); and
Aging Ontarians Deserve the Best (a plan to move long-term care and home care to the public sector).

It also includes commitments made in the last few months in the lead up to the election.

Premier Doug Ford Shuffles Cabinet Ahead of Important Fall Sitting

Today’s cabinet shuffle is about more than filling vacancies or reallocating responsibilities. While some of the changes were prompted by departures from Cabinet over the summer, including Caroline Mulroney, Stan Cho, and Neil Lumsden, a cabinet shuffle is ultimately an exercise in political and policy prioritization.
