NDP Releases Full Platform Ahead of Election Campaign

On Monday, the Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP) unveiled their campaign platform, “Strong. Ready. Working For You.” making it the first party out of the gate to release its platform for the 2022 election. The platform touches on many of the issues deemed as priority by Ontarians over the last four years. An alternative viewpoint is that the platform has something for everyone.

The NDP platform includes its previously released planks:

Homes you can afford (a strategy to address home prices);
Climate. Jobs. Justice: A Green New Democratic Deal (a strategy for the province to reach Net Zero by 2050 while creating jobs); and
Aging Ontarians Deserve the Best (a plan to move long-term care and home care to the public sector).

It also includes commitments made in the last few months in the lead up to the election.

Canada and Alberta Sign Landmark Energy Collaboration MOU

Yesterday, the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta have signed a major Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining a joint plan to pursue common federal–provincial objectives.

Ford Government Prioritizes Buying Ontario First with New Legislation

This afternoon, Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, introduced the Buy Ontario Act, which mandates the prioritization of Ontario goods and services first by all public sector organizations, municipalities and contractors and subcontractors working on the government’s $220 billion capital plan.
